Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7 Translation software compatibility
Windows Vista and Windows 7, the latest operating system incarnation from Microsoft, have produced new headaches for translation software requirements. Much existing budget software is incompatible, only working on Windows 95,98,ME,2000,NT and XP. LEC and Systran both raced new 2007 Vista compatible product versions to market and have confirmed that these versions are also Windows 7 compatible. LEC Translate and Power Translator were ready in February of 2007 and Systran's new version 6 software released in April 2007. LEC's new product range was also the first to feature Mozilla Firefox add-ins compatibility. 2008 and 2010 versions of the software have proven to be fully Windows 7 compatible. Neurotran's range works fine with Vista and Windows 7.
Apple MAC Translation software compatibility
Apple MAC translation software is scarce. Neurotran's range works under MAC and is available in 30+ languages and also sells an interactive Grand Dictionary product in 95 languages. LEC's range works on an MACs running Windows emulators or virtual machines. Macintosh PowerPC, G3's, and G4's can run Microsoft VirtualPC, which in turn runs LEC Translate quite capably. For Intel-based MACs, you might try Boot Camp, Parallels or Fusion.
